Scholarships and bursaries

Academic scholarships

  1. Access to Higher Education Scholarship

    We are offering £1,000 cash per year (excluding placement years) to home students studying full time and paying a tuition fee of £9,000 or £9,250. The Access to Higher Education Scholarship is available if you are accepted onto a course with an Access to HE qualification (where it is an entry requirement for the course). .

    There is no separate application process for the Access Scholarship. Eligible students are automatically identified and contacted before they start their studies at DMU.

 

 

Scholarships

  1. Unite Foundation Scholarship

    The Unite Foundation Scholarship is closed for 2024/25.

    The Unite Foundation Scholarship is jointly offered by AV´óƽ̨ and the Unite Foundation. The scholarship offers care leaver and estranged students a free student bedroom in Newarke Point for a maximum of three years of eligible study.

  2. The Stoneygate Scholarship

    The Stoneygate Scholarship is now open. Applications will close on August 30 2024.

    The Stoneygate Trust Scholarship is dedicated to providing AV´óƽ̨students from a low income or disadvantaged background with monetary awards that will assist them in obtaining at least a grade of 2:1 in their degree programme.

    Stoneygate Trust funding will help 3 students from disadvantaged backgrounds per year for the next 3 intakes of students. The scholarship will provide £3,000 per academic year from the trust, with an additional £1,000 per academic year drawn from existing AV´óƽ̨funds.

  3. The Mukesh Patel Scholarship

    National law firm Freeths has established a scholarship programme for law students in memory of Mukesh Patel, former Managing Partner of Freeths’ Leicester Office.

  4. The David Tupman Engineering Scholarship

    Engineering is an area in which women are under-represented; especially women from low-income households. The David Tupman Engineering Scholarship exists to encourage and support ambitious young women to undertake a degree in engineering.

    The scholarship provides financial support across three years of study in the form of a £1000 award per term, per year of study for three years (total award amount £9000). Students who receive this scholarship will also be supported by mentoring and guidance from David Tupman and a supportive peer network, including recipients of the The David Tupman Engineering Scholarship offered by the University of Salford.

    Eligibility

    This scholarship is:

    • Available to full-time female undergraduate students commencing or undertaking a degree at the University and shall be awarded at the University’s discretion.
    • For supporting female students doing Electrical Engineering and Computer Science courses as a preference, with other engineering courses also applicable should a suitable candidate not be available.
    • Available to students who are a UK national and assessed as paying UK tuition fees.
    • Application is open to all that satisfy the above criteria, but preference will be given to applicants coming from low-income households (below £50,000 income).
    • Awarded annually beginning in academic year 2024-2025 with the expectation that one new scholarship will be awarded in each academic year.
    • Administered in accordance with the University’s terms and conditions for Made from More Scholarships.

    You must have been accepted onto a relevant course of study and you must progress onto the next year of your course each year; there is no other academic criteria for the scholarship.

  1. Article 26 Scholarship

    Students seeking asylum in the UK are not able to apply for funding from the Student Loans Company and are charged international student fees. AV´óƽ̨offers eight Article 26 Scholarships for undergraduate students unable to access funding.

    Please note: the Article 26 Scholarship is only available to students looking to start an undergraduate level programme.

    The Article 26 Scholarship consists of:

    • A full fee waiver for the duration of the course
    • Plus a £3,500 contribution towards living costs per year (or £500 if you are in the care of your local authority)
    • One Article 26 Scholarship recipient will also be eligible for free accommodation in a AV´óƽ̨hall of residence for three years (subject to availability). The recipient must be under the age of 25 on 1 September 2021 to receive this element.

  2. Care Leavers' Bursary

    We are offering £1,000 cash per year to home students studying full time and paying a tuition fee of £9,000 or £9,250. The Care Leavers' Bursary is available to eligible students who come to the University directly from care.

  3. Estranged Students' Bursary

    We are offering £1,000 cash per year to home students studying full time and paying a tuition fee of £9,000 or £9,250. The Estranged Students' Bursary is available to eligible students who are estranged from their family and have no other source of income.

  4. Waymade Nursing Scholarship

    The Waymade Scholarship is generously funded by the Shanta Foundation and supports five BSc undergraduate Nursing or Midwifery students each year. Funds of £3000 are available each year for the full 3 years of study.
